LA BASSA DE LES OLLES

La Bassa de les Olles is the smallest lagoon in the Delta. It is located south of the town of L’Ampolla, next to the beach of L’Arenal, in the direction of the island of Mar.

In this unique raft you can see fantastic sunrises with views of the mussel farms of the Bay and Punta del Fangar.

HOW TO GET TO LA BASSA DE LES OLLES?

An ancient mouth

During the years 1600-1700, when the Delta did not yet exist, the Bassa de les Olles lagoon was one of the first mouths of the river Ebro.

The viewpoints of the lagoon

A very important point of the Bassa de les Olles is its viewpoints.

The lagoon has four different viewpoints:

  • 360-degree viewpoint of La Bassa de les Olles.
  • South viewpoint of La Bassa de les Olles.
  • Central viewpoint of La Bassa de les Olles.
  • North viewpoint of La Bassa de les Olles.

The main viewpoint is 360 degrees. It is adapted for wheelchair access. It is the highest viewpoint of the lagoon and it is also the ideal place to take photographs of sunrises and sunsets.

Activities

The Bassa de les Olles is the ideal place for different activities.

In addition to birdwatching in the observatories, it is also advisable to go hiking, cycling or even kayaking in the bay – located just in front of the lagoon.

Access to the lagoon can be on foot, by bicycle or even by car, as there is a car park very close to the lagoon.

Natural and unique environment

The surroundings offer magnificent views of the rice fields.

The main charm is the proximity of the lagoon to the sea of Fangar Bay.
